TIMELINE
A note: This timeline is made up of some of the significant dates and events gathered in our research about CCA(C) Textiles. We do not pretend that it is complete, but rather a glimpse into our past. 1954- Textiles program begins at CCAC with Trude Guermonprez as the first faculty member in Textiles. Two current CCA Textiles Faculty members studied with Trude: Carole Beadle and Kathleen Larisch.
1960- Trude starts the graduate program at CCAC which takes the next 5-6 years to establish. Carole Beadle is the first to receive an MFA in Textiles from CCAC.

1963: "Woven Forms", the first show of textiles at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts, NY. The show featured works by Leonore Tawney, Alice Adams, Sheila Hicks, Dorian Zachai and Claire Zeisler .
Fall 1968: Carole Beadle talks to Trude about starting a fiber sculpture class. Some of the titles for the class were 1. Hand Construction 2. Fiber Construction.
(Studio moved from between college and broadway which provided larger spaces. Other locations are the cafeteria then the B bldg.)
1969: Janet Levin is hired part-time to teach textile printing. The program grows so quickly that Kathleen Larisch is hired a few years later to teach printing.
1976: Trude's death
1976:Lia Cook joins the CCA faculty to teach weaving
1999: CCAC Textiles purchases a TC-1 digital jaquard loom.
2003: CCAC changes it's name to CCA

2005: Grad Student Lacy Jane Roberts knits the words "& Crafts" with bright orange yarn and installs them in their former place on the sign of CCA's San Francisco Campus
2006: Textiles Master of Tradition Series is established
2011: Craftforward conference at CCA co-chaired by Deborah Valoma (Textiles Faculty and Director of Fine Arts) and Mark Takiguchi (Associate Director of Fine Arts)
